Panthers cut Delhomme after lousy 2009
The Carolina Panthers cut Jake Delhomme late Thursday, just over a year after they gave him a lucrative contract extension only to watch him have his worst season as a pro.
Delhomme's agent, Rick Smith, confirmed the move and said Delhomme would wait until Friday to talk to reporters. It signals the Panthers intend to go with Matt Moore or someone new at quarterback for the first time since Delhomme burst onto the scene in 2003 and led Carolina to the Super Bowl.

Suddenly in the quarterback-driven NFL, defense is becoming all the rage. Early draft projections have Suh and McCoy, defensive tackles, going among the top four picks. Berry could join them in the top five, and none of the three defenders are shy about making their cases for who is the best.
"In my eyes, I feel like I'm the best player in the draft because I bring a lot to the table," Berry said Sunday. "I was a game-changer in college. If you want to compare the big playmaking...

Johnson will struggle to duplicate last season's success in 2010
Chris Johnson is coming off one of the best fantasy seasons for a running back in recent history. He broke Marshall Faulk's single-season record for scrimmage yards (2,509), finished with 16 total touchdowns and led all players on NFL.com in fantasy points (329).
Based on those numbers, he's already been labeled the king of the fantasy football mountain and the consensus No. 1 overall pick in 2010 drafts. And really, it's hard not to hand him that sort of status. He's young, explosive and one of the true featured running backs left in the National Football League.
If the past is any indicator,...
